Paula Maia and Kevin Meegan are excited to announce their new venture, Build Your Own Party - New York's only one-stop DIY catering alternative, and the latest thing in the growing trend toward creative customization with a green tint.
BYOP is an affordable option for people who want to design their own event but don't have time to do the legwork. Unlike stuffy catering companies, BYOP puts you in charge and anticipates your needs. Party throwers get to define the scene, whether it's funky but chic or arty farty, by selecting from an extensive checklist of healthy, freshly prepared foods, plus beverages, eco-friendly disposables, staffers (yes, a clean-up crew is on tap) and even chairs and tables. Orders are delivered to the door, ready to party.

With over 25 combined years at some of NYC's favorite restaurants and catering kitchens, Paula and Kevin - natives of Brazil and Ireland, respectively - know what it takes to throw a good party. Now they want to help New Yorkers have fun throwing their own, whether it's a celebration or a gallery opening. Customers choosing the Build It Yourself option can pick and choose from an extensive list of healthful foods and beverages that the owners have hand-picked. An optional EZ-lane offers several preBuilt parties, ranging from the Gallery Opening (drinks and nibbles), to the Japanimator (complete with sushi chef) and the Snoopy Doggy Doggy (PupCakes and party favors included).
Paula and Kevin are big supporters of New Yorkers' right to party - BYOP keeps it affordable by plugging in to great finds that haven't been hyperbranded, like 'Simple Kitchen' sodas or Güitig naturally sparkling spring water from Ecuador. They're also committed to keeping it healthy and planet-friendly. BYOP uses ingredients and practices that have a low environmental impact. The owners tap into the network of small vendors with whom they've formed relationships over time; disposables are made of sustainable bamboo, or biodegradable potato starch and sugar cane.
Until the BYOP website launches, customers can access Build Your Own Party by phone (at the contact number listed above). Business hours are Monday-Friday 10am–6pm. BYOP delivers to any street address in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens; orders are taken a minimum of 2 business days prior to the party.
